pil-grum

...lately the idea of "abundance" seems inappropriate. the original "thanksgiving" feast was probably due in part to the surfeit of foodstuffs immediately after harvest... can we say that about our current situation?

the front

i think you can see that this is barely acceptable as presentation, but looks better than if i just went with the 7/8-inch stretcher. there is a ridge or edge detectable where the original stretcher and the thickening strip meet. there is probably a solution to this... below it is possible to see how this one is put together.here is a link to a proper view of this and other paintings.

the back

here's the setup on the back. at first, i thought of building a frame that would match the stretcher (i think this one is a frederix), but abandoned the idea when i realized it meant precision. so i just cut some strips to approximate size and screwed them on. i applied some fancy duct tape to the outside edge of the whole thing, to try to flatten out the edge. then i applied the ace bandage (see below).

ace bandage=art material

here's the stuff. has a canvas-y texture. there is some adhesive on the back, but not strong, as you may know. so i stapled it where the ends meet.

something happened in the vicinity of fishtown

this is the drawing i wanted you to see. i made it in a free painting/drawing program called "seashore"
